Blog #3
Today was a great day!! This morning just Betty, Pam, my mom, and I went to Santa Celia. Irene, Nikki, and Katie had spent the night there. When we got there, those three were busy crocheting with a group of people. I hung around there for a little bit, be eventually gave on on crocheting :) I walked down to the school where the scholarship students had prepared a presentation for us. There were about 11 students total, both from Santa Celia ands Santa Marta.
After the presentation, I talked with the students. We had fun looking at my pictures, playing volleyball, and joking about how tall I am :) Two of the girls that were also my age loved taking picures of everything! A camera could keep them busy all day :)
For the younger children, we wanted to introduce an American culture activity we do for Easter. There were about 90 hard boiled eggs ands 200 plasctic eggs filled with jelly beans. Some of the scholarship students hid the plastic eggs while the others helped us back at the school. There were about 15 cups of dye set out on a table. Each child got a hard boiled egg and then they got to dye it. They had lots of fun with that project, and in the end everyone got to take and egg home. After the egg dying, we had the Easrer egg hunt. The kids totally loved that!!
I think everyone had a very successful trip in Santa Celia these past three days. All the community leaders were very happy and thankful about everything we did. Hopefully I will be able to return again someday!
